Concrete Maths Manipulatives

The plavalmat® range of place value resources centres around our multi-functional place value mats which can be used  support teaching and learning of a wide range of primary KS1 and KS2 maths curriculum objectives: number & place value; four operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division; fractions, decimals & percentages; money and measurement.


Our place value charts, place value counters (place value disks), base ten (dienes) and 0-9 dice have consistent colour-coding which has been matched to those used in White Rose Maths however they are suitable for use with all mathematics schemes of learning.


Our latest product, DOTS+TODS™, can also be used by learners ages 9+ to support understanding of positive and negative numbers (directed numbers) and algebra as they form a better representation of zero pairs.

Who can use plavalmat® resources?


  • Primary aged children (Ages 6+)
  • Pupils in KS3 (Secondary school) on intervention programmes or require additional support to secure understanding or plug gaps from KS2
  • Individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), or specific mathematical learning difficulties such as Dyscalculia
  • Adults who want to improve their numeracy skills
